Research Interests

Research activities in our group can be categorized according to two main projects:

  1. Creation of Diversity in the Synthesis of Small Molecules, and
  2. Target-oriented Synthesis of Complex Organic Molecules with Promising Biological Properties.

In our studies, the syntheses of natural products and analogues thereof play a key role in the development of new methods. In addition, we investigate novel and flexible strategies for the synthesis of biologically relevant heterocycles.

  1. Synthese von Naturstoffen mit Wirkungen gegen vernachlässigte Krankheiten wie Malaria und parasitäre Wurminfektionen
  2. Insekten-Neuropeptide als Vorbilder für selektive und umweltverträgliche Insektizide
  3. Molekulare Erkennung von pharmazeutisch relevanten Peptiden als neues Wirkprinzip in der Krebsforschung

Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre

Our current research activities revolve around the following topics:

  1. Functional self-assembled block copolymer nanostructured materials, in solid state or in solution, including polymerization-induced self-assembly
  2. Protein stabilization using polymers, either via direct conjugation or by encapsulation in so-called single-enzyme nanogels (SENs)
  3. Surface functionalization of different types of materials (glass/silicon, polymer) using efficient coupling methods such as click chemistry and mild photochemistry
  4. Organic polymer synthesis and modification using most modern polymerization methods (nitroxide-mediated polymerization, RAFT polymerization, atom-transfer radical polymerization, cationic ring-opening polymerization, ring-opening metathesis polymerization) and modular coupling methods (click, photo)

In the near future, we want to include aspects of green chemistry, by harnessing mild and environmentally friendlier methodologies and renewable resources and by developing biodegradable polymeric materials.
