Diversity in the Synthesis of Small Molecules

Based on the pharmaceutical value of small molecules ("Pfizer rules of Five"), this project aims to develop sustainable strategies for medicinal chemistry. It is envisaged to develop methods for the conversion of easily accessible substrates into compound libraries gaining both structural diversity and complexity. Due to the fact that heterocycles probably represent the largest and most varied class of chemical compounds currently registered, the development of efficient methods for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds is a major focus of our research in this field.
